Job description
Overview

Industry: International Trade, Textile Recycling & Specialized Logistics

Unlike a standard logistics GM role, this position requires a technical environmental background. You are expected to navigate complex global regulations (like Extended Producer Responsibility) while optimizing "cost-per-ton" metrics and reducing the carbon footprint of the recycling process itself.

As the General Manager with International Trade and Logistics (Garments on Hanger) logistics experience, it is a specialized niche within the global supply chain designed to move apparel from manufacturers to retail floors without the need for folding or re-pressing. You will be the strategic leader which combines the overall industrial operations management overseeing the entire operations, P&L, warehouse logistics, business development, managing stakeholders and clients internationally. A leader who can optimize supply chains while championing environmental sustainability from a used garment and trade experience.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence
  • Facility Management: Direct daily operations of high-volume sorting and processing centers, ensuring maximum efficiency and throughput.
  • Scaling Strategy: Design and execute a 3–5 year strategic roadmap to scale international trade recovery and increase recycling volumes.
  • Technological Advancement: Lead the integration of emerging technologies, such as AI-automated sorting and chemical recycling preparation, to enhance fiber purity and commercial value.
Supply Chain & Circular Ecosystems
  • Upstream Sourcing: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with municipalities and global retailers for "take-back" programs and waste collection.
  • Downstream Negotiation: Identify and secure contracts with fiber-to-fiber recyclers, downcycling manufacturers, and secondary clothing markets.
  • Logistics Optimization: Streamline collection routes and warehouse management systems to minimize the carbon footprint of the recycling process.
Financial & Performance Management
  • Full P&L Responsibility: Manage the departmental budget, ensuring the commercial viability of various recycling streams and optimizing cost-per-ton metrics.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on KPIs including diversion rates, contamination levels, inventory turnover, and sustainability targets.
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure total adherence to local environmental regulations, labor laws, and international safety standards (OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
People & Industry Leadership
  • Team Mentorship: Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team across warehouse operations, logistics, and business development.
  • Market Representation: Act as a brand ambassador and thought leader at global sustainability conferences and circular economy working groups.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 10+ years in logistics operations, manufacturing, or sustainability-driven environments. At least 5 years in a senior leadership role (General Manager).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science, or Accounting. An MBA is highly preferred.
  • Deep expertise in Garments on Hanger (GOH) logistics. Technical understanding of textile fibers (natural vs. synthetic) and recycling methodologies (mechanical vs. chemical).
  • Familiarity with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation.
  • Proficiency in ERP software and data-driven decision-making.
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or LEED certification is a significant advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required; proficiency in Mandarin is a plus to manage regional stakeholders.
