Responsible for the overall finance activities to deliver timely, accurate and reliable financial information to Senior Management, to enable them to make more effective business decisions for the Company and for compliance with regulatory requirements. In this process the role ensures effective financial controls, optimal operational efficiency and facilitates effective financial risk management.
Responsibilities
- Finance Reporting: Ensure local financial reporting adheres to local accounting standards and guidelines. Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reporting for BNM, PIDM, LHDN & RCMD, as well as regional reporting for Generali. Manage the statutory annual audit and other independent/regulatory reviews, ensuring all necessary support from stakeholders.
- Finance Activities: Oversee day‑to‑day accounting functions, integrate finance operations, forecast and budget management expenses, handle tax matters, prepare financial reports and safeguard company assets. Review, improve and tighten internal controls, resolve issues raised and champion best practices to enhance productivity and quality across finance and accounting operations.
- Strategic Planning: Compile, analyze and submit robust strategic plans to the regional office within prescribed timelines. Assist in preparing and reviewing budgets for management approval, update budget assumptions, highlight potential challenges and communicate to local management. Use the plan as a tracking tool to guide day‑to‑day decisions and evaluate progress.
- Managerial Responsibilities: Manage career development, performance assessment and development of direct reports. Motivate the team to achieve desired productivity and standards, foster a results‑oriented environment and make finance a great place to work. Prepare, maintain and monitor the finance budget.
Requirements
- Education: Preferably a degree in a relevant discipline; professional certifications such as ACCA or MIA and relevant technical qualifications are desirable.
- Experience: 15+ years in finance accounting & reporting within the insurance industry, with sound knowledge of insurance accounting, operations and reporting requirements.
