Overview
We are seeking a motivated Financial Analyst to join our team in Penang, Malaysia. This role is designed for a professional who thrives on turning complex data into strategic insights, spanning financial reporting, planning, and analysis (FP&A) across multiple entities. As a Financial Analyst, you will not only support the preparation of consolidated financial statements but also play a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, and driving operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Strategic FP&A and Financial Modelling: You will be a key contributor to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes. A major part of your role involves building sophisticated financial models to support business decisions and evaluating performance by comparing actual results against projections. You will identify trends, perform variance analysis, and suggest specific actions for business optimization.
- Performance Reporting and Consolidation: You will assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial consolidation process across multiple entities, ensuring accurate intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translations. By collaborating with accounting teams, you will prepare internal management reports and materials for leadership reviews, providing a clear picture of the group’s financial health.
- Operational Costing and Profitability: You will support cost analysis processes by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures to maintain financial control. This includes performing profitability analysis to help the organisation understand the drivers of financial success within our manufacturing operations.
- Systems and Process Optimisation: With a continuous improvement mindset, you will identify and drive workflow improvements in reporting and analysis, you will develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Excel dashboards while working with IT to ensure data integrity and optimise ERP systems across all entities.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in financial reporting, consolidation, or FP&A.
- Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills are essential, alongside a willingness to learn complex financial systems and modelling.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or similar sectors is preferred.
- Soft Skills: You must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
