Job summary

A fast-growing mining & exploration group in Malaysia is seeking an ACCA-qualified Finance Manager to lead the finance function. This foundational role involves setting up processes, managing end-to-end finance operations, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. Key responsibilities include preparing monthly management accounts, overseeing daily operations, and coordinating with the UK finance team. Ideal candidates possess strong knowledge of accounting standards and excellent communication skills to liaise with international stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a sole contributor or finance setup role is a strong plus.
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing end-to-end functions.
  • Experience working with UK entities or multinational setups is a bonus.

A fast-growing mining & exploration group with operations in the UK and Sabah is looking for a hands-on, ACCA-qualified Finance Manager to build and lead the finance function in Malaysia. This is a foundational role where you’ll set up processes, strengthen governance, and own end-to-end finance operations while supporting international reporting.

What You’ll Do
Finance & Accounting

Set up and manage the full spectrum of accounting & finance for the Malaysia entity.

Transition accounts from external providers to an internal function.

Develop SOPs, internal controls, and improve financial processes.

Prepare monthly management accounts, analysis, and reporting for the UK CFO.

Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.

Ensure compliance with local tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain the Autocount system and support system improvements.

Handle year-end audit, liaising with auditors and tax agents.

Coordinate with UK finance team on group reporting, consolidation, listing-related matters, and ad-hoc tasks.

Administration

Oversee daily office operations and general admin for the KL office.

Manage procurement, vendor contracts, and asset tracking.

Support HR admin (leave tracking, onboarding docs, payroll coordination).

Handle regulatory filings, licenses, and company secretarial matters with service providers.

Ensure smooth, compliant day-to-day operations for the Malaysia team.

What We’re Looking For

Experience in a sole contributor or finance setup role is a strong plus.

Familiar with Autocount.

Strong knowledge accounting standards & compliance.

Experience working with UK entities, multinational setups, or listing processes is a bonus.

Independent, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing end-to-end functions.

Strong communication skills to collaborate with international stakeholders.

Willing to travel to Sabah occasionally for site visits.
