This role is both strategic and hands‑on, responsible for setting the group’s financial direction, strengthening financial discipline, and ensuring robust governance as the business scales. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Director acts as a trusted business partner to leadership, providing clear financial insights to support decision‑making in a fast‑growing, operationally complex environment where processes and systems continue to evolve. The Finance Director will oversee the Finance and Credit functions, leading regional finance teams across Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore, balancing commercial agility with strong financial control and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s short‑ and long‑term business objectives.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across all operating countries.
- Provide timely, practical financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to the CEO and Management team.
- Support business expansion, pricing decisions, cost optimization, and investment evaluations.
- Build financial models and projections to assess business performance and growth scenarios.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee end‑to‑end finance operations, including accounting, management reporting, statutory reporting, and taxation.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting.
- Review financial performance, identify variances, risks, and opportunities, and propose corrective actions.
- Strengthen and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks.
- Work closely with external accountants, auditors, and tax agents in Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore to ensure compliance.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage cash flow planning to ensure sufficient liquidity for business operations and growth.
- Oversee banking relationships, facilities, and payment processes.
- Approve payments, budgets, and major financial transactions within delegated authority, with selected final approvals escalated to the CEO.
- Oversee credit control, customer credit limits, AR ageing, and collection strategies to minimize bad debt risk.
- Monitor working capital and drive practical cost control initiatives.
Governance, Audit & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and tax requirements across operating countries.
- Coordinate and lead external audits, working closely with auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Maintain sound governance practices and financial discipline as the company scales.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, develop, and set clear standards for the regional finance and credit team, ensuring consistent financial discipline, reporting quality, and control frameworks across all operational countries.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and accountability while recognizing local regulatory and operational requirements.
- Build strong working relationships with operations, sales, and other business functions to enable effective business partnering.
- Foster a culture of ownership, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance and credit team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- A professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 10–15 years of relevant finance experience, including senior leadership experience in a growing organization.
- Prior experience in logistics, supply chain, e‑commerce fulfilment, or operationally intensive industries is highly desirable.
- Strong hands‑on experience in financial management, accounting, audit, taxation, and cash flow management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Skills and Competences
- Strong commercial and business partnering mindset with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
- Solid understanding of regional finance operations.
- Experience with accounting systems such as Xero and exposure to WMS or operational systems.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and financial discipline.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and work cross‑functionally.
- Strong understanding of investor and shareholder expectations, including capital investment, returns, and value creation.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
