Job summary

A leading port operator in Malaysia is seeking a planner to take ownership of vessel planning and ensure efficient operations. Responsibilities include overseeing load and discharge processes, facilitating swift container transfer services, and training new planners. Candidates must possess relevant education and experience, be fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and have strong leadership skills. Qualifications

  • Possess at least SPM with 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia required.
  • Physically and mentally fit with good eyesight.

Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Take ownership for vessel planning, which means responsible for efficient and highly productive planning with due consideration to the vessel stability and safety under load and discharge operations.
  • Responsible for providing vessel and shipping agents information about the vessel's load and discharge processes.
  • Facilitate fast and efficient container handling / transfer services as per customer requirement.
  • Ensure vessels are planned and monitored effectively in order to achieve the target of gross moves per hour (GMPH).
  • Meet vessel on arrival, to finalise and provide all loading documents, and quay crane working sequence.
  • Maintain that all vessels receive final departure paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and communicate vessel load plans and vessel work plans to all necessary persons in the stevedoring section.
  • Control and monitor the execution of the vessel operation plan.
  • Train and coach new planners in planning and problem solving.
  • Communicate all planning related issues to planning supervisors and planning management.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior from time to time.
Requirements
  • Possess at least SPM with 3-5 years of related experience and terminal operations or Dip/Deg in Maritime Operation or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
  • Physically and mentally fit and good eyesight.
  • Have strong leadership skills and resourceful.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Familiar with Navis System.
