Job summary

A construction company based in Kuala Lumpur seeks a skilled Accounting Manager to oversee project accounting activities and ensure compliance with financial standards.   • Handle project accounting functions ensuring proper revenue and cost recognition.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable, including invoice verification.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.

Job description

The role is responsible for managing the full spectrum of accounting and financial activities for construction projects and group entities. This includes project accounting, billing and claims, cost control, reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls. The role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and sound knowledge of construction project accounting and cost structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain full sets of accounts and ensure accurate and timely month‑end and year‑end closing.
  • Prepare management reports, financial statements, and cash flow forecasts, including variance analysis and performance insights.
  • Handle project accounting functions such as progress billings, retention, and variation orders, ensuring proper revenue and cost recognition in compliance with MFRS 15.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including supplier invoice verification, subcontractor claim checking, and collection follow‑up.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, SST, and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, bankers, and relevant parties on audit, tax, and reporting matters.
  • Participate in developing, reviewing, and implementing accounting SOPs to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent. Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, MIA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Preferably 3 years of relevant working experience in accounting, preferably in the construction or project‑based industry.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction project accounting, progress claims, retention, and cost control.
Skills
  • Familiar with MFRS 15, SST, and MFRS accounting standards.
  • Experience with AutoCount.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
