Job summary

A leading automotive manufacturer located in Tanjong Malim, Malaysia, is seeking an experienced Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) specialist. This role involves developing and reviewing SHE procedures, designing compliance programs, and leading internal audits to ensure safe practices. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and at least 4 years of experience, along with relevant certifications. This position offers a dynamic work environment focusing on continuous improvement in safety and health standards.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years’ experience in Safety, Health & Environment.
  • Holder of a valid Green Book issued by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and disseminate SHE procedures to minimize safety risks.
  • Design and implement EHS compliance programs for legal adherence.
  • Lead internal audits of Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Coordinate third-party SHE audits for compliance.
  • Compile SHE-related data for managerial insights.
  • Identify training needs and conduct employee training sessions.
  • Execute SHE promotional initiatives to enhance employee engagement.
  • Facilitate SHE-related management reviews.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • To develop, review, revise, and disseminated PROTON SHE procedures, guidelines, and standards to minimize occupational safety risks and environmental impacts, ensuring alignment with legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • To design, coordinate, and implement comprehensive EHS compliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable legal requirements, internal/external standards, and expectations of interested parties.
  • To lead the execution of Environmental Management System (EMS) internal audits, including audit scheduling, facilitation, monitoring and closure of findings, and preparation of status updates and intervention plans for senior management.
  • To coordinate SHE audits conducted by third-party/external auditors, including pre-assessment preparations, monitoring and follow-up of findings, and reporting progress to senior management with strategic recommendations when necessary.
  • To compile, analyze, and interpret SHE-relate data to provide insights and recommendations that support managerial decision-making and reduce non-conformities.
  • To identify training needs, developed content, and conduct training sessions for employees and contractors to communicate new or revised PROTON procedures and enhance SHE-relate competencies.
  • To develop and execute SHE promotional initiatives to increase employee awareness, engagement, and participation in SHE-related activities across the organization.
  • To facilitate the execution of SHE-related management reviews by preparing relevant documentation, coordinating review sessions, and tracking action items to closure.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, Environment or related field.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in Safety, Health & Environment
  • Certified in ISO14001 & ISO45001 Management system
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
