Executive – Data Warehouse Developer and Analyst

Taylor's Education Group – Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

The Executive – Data Warehouse Developer and Analyst is responsible for the data infrastructure, modeling and pipeline development for the school’s Data Warehouse & Power BI dashboard by using T‑SQL & Python coding and familiar with REST API ensuring that the services meet quality standards, and are functional, secure, and scalable based on the needs of the school.

KEY RESULTS AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the data infrastructure, modeling and pipeline development for the school’s Data Warehouse & Power BI, applying the principles of Kimball relational modelling to the dimensions and facts that relate to all aspects of school life.
  • Responsible to perform coding, development and handle system enhancement for the existing Data Warehouse & Power BI dashboard in the school using T‑SQL & Python coding and familiar with PHP, WordPress and MySQL would be added advantages.
  • Familiar with Google Workspace scripting and ability to automate task with code.
  • Responsible to create Power BI visualizations of data using accepted best practice for UI/UX, by designing, trialing and seeking feedback of different ways of presenting data with stakeholders at all levels of the school.
  • Responsible to ensure that data is stored securely and responsibly, with reference to PDPA requirements and applying industry best practices for data control and access, while encouraging the use of data throughout the school.
  • Responsible to work with the Senior Developer and ICT support to ensure that the data team meets their SLA obligations, working quickly to rectify errors or downtime in the data pipelines and front ends.
  • Responsible to support and troubleshoot the Student Information Management on issue reported especially on the Academic Reporting during Reporting cycle.
  • Responsible for documenting service log, keeping track of version upgrades, handling enhancements and improvements to system applications and providing telephone technical support to teachers.
JOB TASKS
  • To ensure that ETL tools are current and up-to-date, producing accurate copies of data from a range of external sources within the warehouse.
  • To monitor and quality assure the data within the warehouse, proactively looking for anomalies.
  • To test, document and deploy all changes to the warehouse and ETL structure in collaboration with the Head of Digital Learning and Entrepreneurship, the Senior Developer, the Data Manager and the school’s leadership team.
  • To work proactively with school leadership at all levels to anticipate the data needs of the school, ensuring that capabilities are added to the warehouse as data needs change and develop.
  • Undertake tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Digital Learning.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
MINIMUM ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent
RELATED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in Application Development and System Support.
  • Knowledge to TSQL
  • Experience of Kimball relational modelling and denormalization
  • Power BI (DAX, M, publishing, Row-Level Security)
  • REST APIs concepts and development
  • Cloud experience (Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of PDPA
