Job Summary
The Engineering Executive is responsible for assisting in the supervision and execution of daily maintenance and repair activities in the hotel, ensuring all equipment, systems, and facilities operate efficiently and safely. This role supports preventive maintenance programs, supervises technicians, and ensures compliance with safety standards to provide guests and staff with a comfortable and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operations
- Oversee daily maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and civil works.
- Assist in implementing preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all hotel equipment and systems.
- Supervise contractors and vendors performing specialized maintenance and ensure quality of work.
- Respond promptly to guest requests and reported maintenance issues.
- Ensure energy-efficient operation of hotel facilities and support sustainability initiatives.
Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise and guide technicians, ensuring tasks are carried out safely and effectively.
- Provide on-the-job training for engineering staff on equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and evaluate staff performance.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, fire, and health regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of fire safety systems, elevators, boilers, and other critical equipment.
- Maintain up-to-date records of inspections, permits, and certifications.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness among staff.
Administrative & Reporting
- Assist in preparing departmental reports, maintenance logs, and utility consumption summaries.
- Monitor inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies; request procurement as needed.
- Support the Chief Engineer in preparing departmental budgets and controlling expenses.
- Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions during repair and maintenance work.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering (preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in hotel engineering or building maintenance, with some supervisory exposure.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical).
- Good problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and energy conservation methods.
- Familiarity with safety codes, regulations, and engineering standards.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Working Conditions
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and on-call duty as required.
- Frequent exposure to mechanical, electrical, and utility areas.
- Requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting for extended periods.
