A leading technology company in Penang is seeking a qualified Environmental Health and Safety Officer for a contract position of 8 months. This role entails managing EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulations, training personnel, and conducting audits. Candidates should possess a Bachelor Degree in Health Science or related fields, and ideally have 3+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor manufacturing and EHS compliance programs. Qualifications

  • Registered Safety & Health officer required.
  • Lead auditor or internal auditor experience in ISO14001 or ISO45001 is advantageous.
  • DOSH or DOE competent person preferred.

Position Summary

Supporting a Company wide facilities portfolio, manages, coordinates and maintains environmental, health, safety programs and procedures with the aim of eliminating incidents, preventing property loss and damage, and preventing harm to the employees and the environment. Responsible for employee safety awareness and training, industrial hygiene testing, needs assessment for EHS regulatory compliance, hazardous waste management. Interfaces directly with business unit managers and leaders, and executive staff on Environmental Health and Safety issues. Tracks, reports, and is accountable for employee EHS related programs and incidents. The AE company expert in Environmental Health and Safety issues. Responsible for the company wide creation and management of AE company EHS strategic plans, policies, and implementation of these programs.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Coordinates compliance with state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Interface with local government authority agencies in licensing/permitting, audits and inspections to ensure successful outcomes and regulatory compliance recommendations to site management to prioritize key focus areas for continuous improvement in EHS programs and regulatory compliance.
  • Develope and maintain key EHS programs & documentations, e.g, Legal Registers, EHS procedure/checklist/forms, exposure assessment results, Chemical Registers & Chemical Safety Data Sheets, Regulated Equipment listing, and other legal compliance documents.
  • Partner with site operation team to achieve EHS goals/performance.
  • Facilitates, participates and leads the Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Implement programs & initiatives to meet expectations and standards per ISO14001 EMS, local regulations, Advanced Energy policy/guidelines.
  • Use of systematic risk assessment and relevant analytical assessment for troubleshooting, incident investigation, root cause/corrective action identification, ensure data driven decision making.
  • Provide assistance to site operation team in incident and injury investigation to prevent re-occurrence of incident/injury.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates all safety and environmental training, including but not limited to Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, Ergonomics, and other training required by Malaysia EHS regulatory comformance.
  • Performs ergonomic audits and recommends ergonomic equipment to prevent and reduce injuries.
  • Coordinates and implements the emergency response team & emergency response plan.
  • Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies and general duty of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience
  • 3+ years experience in related fields such as Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environment. Experience working in semiconductor manufacturing preferred.
Education
  • Bachelor Degree in Health Science/Industrial Hygiene, Physical Sciences, or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
