Job Description
We are seeking a Cost Control Engineer to manage, monitor, and control project costs to ensure financial efficiency and compliance with approved budgets. The successful candidate will support project teams in cost planning, forecasting, reporting, and financial risk management across oil & gas, energy, and general industry projects.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Budget Control
- Prepare project cost estimates, budgets, and cost breakdown structures (CBS).
- Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets.
- Track commitments, variations, and cost changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
Cost Monitoring & Reporting
- Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and earned value analysis (EVA).
- Monitor man-hours, materials, subcontractor costs, and indirect costs.
- Provide cost status updates to Project Manager and Management.
- Support management review and financial audits.
Contract & Commercial Support
- Assist in evaluation of subcontractor quotations and variation orders.
- Monitor subcontractor claims, progress billing, and cost impacts.
- Support final accounts, project close-out, and cost reconciliation.
Risk & Cost Optimisation
- Identify cost risks and opportunities for cost savings.
- Support value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives.
- Ensure cost control practices comply with company procedures and client requirements.
Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Construction Management, or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in cost control or project cost management.
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, rotating equipment, or industrial projects is an advantage.
- Familiar with EPC / maintenance / shutdown project environments.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of cost control principles and project financial management
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (cost tracking, formulas, reporting)
- Familiar with project controls tools, budgeting, and forecasting techniques
- Ability to interpret drawings, BOQs, and project scope
- Good analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
