Electrical Engineer (based in Simpang Pulai)
Primary objective is to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all electrical systems and equipment within the facility. Responsible for minimizing electrical‑related downtime by implementing effective preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. Responsible to optimize electrical maintenance processes through structured scheduling and the use of digital tools such as CMMS and energy monitoring systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day to day operation of electrical section to achieve KPI, including hands‑on work to assist electrical or other teams.
- Manpower planning, deployment, control, and skill development.
- Execute suitable planned or preventive or predictive maintenance programs to improve machinery efficiency and availability.
- Spare parts planning, sourcing, and support procurement.
- Supervision of staff, contractors, and vendors to maintain control of maintenance schedules and costs.
- Conducts field investigation or test and prepare report for breakdown or other issues.
- Work with other section managers to ensure work meet business needs, applicable codes, safety standard and quality workmanship.
- Liaison with TNB for switching, network faults, outages, and disruption of electrical supply.
- Liaison with Suruhanjaya Tenaga for permit and approval.
- Supervise electrical schedule maintenance work on substations, transformers, and switchgears.
- Ensuring that all HV, MV and LV equipment within his or her area of responsibility are maintained, within a prescribed budget, to the highest level possible to ensure maximum availability and quality at all times.
- To develop and execute energy conservation programs.
- To propose technical improvement in his or her area.
- To empower safety policy within his or her team, adhere to and share a “safety first” attitude, whether within or outside of Lhoist.
- Active participant in operation meetings to resolve plant issues.
- Reporting on equipment availability and breakdown analysis (electrical).
Qualifications
- At least Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years relevant working experience related to electrical power and automation systems.
- Heavy industry manufacturing background is a plus.
- Chargeman A4/BO 11kV will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated competency in Electrical Power (HV/MV/LV) and Instrumentation and PLC Electrical, preferably 80% and 20% ratio.
- Practical experience in troubleshooting and connection of electric motors, including inverters.
- MV and LV reticulation principles.
- Testing and certifying of electrical installations.
