Job description

Participate actively in the design, design review and preparation of technical documentation including drawings, specifications, test reports, progress monitoring records for HV (High Voltage), MV (Medium Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) electrical distribution, protection, control, and auxiliary systems tailored for hydroelectric projects.

Experienced in the sizing and specification of transformers, switchgear, CTs and VTs, with hands‑on involvement in switchyard and substation design and coordination

Familiar with pre‑feasibility and feasibility study.

Engage in hydropower and dam electrical projects with a strong focus on site coordination and contractor supervision, ensuring seamless execution on construction sites.

Provide technical direction and supervision to contractors during installation, testing, commissioning, and performance monitoring phases of hydropower electrical systems to assure quality and compliance.

Monitor and report construction progress and quality assurance on‑site, ensuring full compliance with hydropower‑specific codes, standards, safety requirements, and environmental regulations.

Coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, and electrical contractors and subcontractors to facilitate smooth project execution and proactively resolve any site issues affecting timelines or quality.

Assist project managers in technical planning, coordination, and reporting, with an emphasis on site execution, contractor deliverables, and project tracking.

Maintain and manage client communication directly on site, ensuring transparency on project status, technical challenges, contractor performance, and resolutions.

Utilize specialized knowledge of hydropower electrical and auxiliary systems to support on‑site troubleshooting, system optimization, and technical problem‑solving.

Prepare, review, and update all relevant electrical technical documentation, including drawings, test and commissioning reports, and progress monitoring records, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.

Employ hydropower‑specific software tools i.e. ETAP and PSSE for electrical system modeling, simulation, and design support wherever applicable to enhance project outcomes.

Job Specification

Pursuing or attained master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field will be considered a plus.

Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, preferably with electrical design and demonstrable hydropower or water project experience.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, capable of building and sustaining relationships with clients, contractors, multidisciplinary teams, and other stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability or willingness to acquire knowledge of hydropower considerations and relevant standards & regulatory frameworks.

Proven ability in contractor supervision, site coordination, and project quality assurance specifically within hydroelectric power contexts.

Skilled in communicating, preparing, and reviewing detailed technical documentation, with emphasis on clarity and compliance to technical standards.

Currently professionally registered or committed to obtaining registration with a recognized engineering institution (e.g., BEM) to ensure verified technical competency is advantageous
