Electrical Design Manager (Industrial- M&E Consultancy/MEP EPC/EPCM)
The Electrical Design Manager is responsible for leading and managing the electrical engineering design function within an EPC / EPCM environment. This role bridges consultancy-level electrical design with practical construction execution, ensuring technical excellence, value engineering, and full compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements. The position plays a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and constructible electrical systems from concept through commissioning.
Responsibilities

Design Management & Technical Leadership
- Lead, manage, and review electrical design deliverables including Single Line Diagrams (SLD), load calculations, layout drawings, schematics, and technical specifications for industrial, commercial, and data centre projects.
- Provide technical leadership to the electrical design team and ensure all designs meet project requirements, codes, and standards.
- Perform Value Engineering (VE) by reviewing consultant and in-house designs to optimize cost, improve constructability, and enhance system reliability without compromising safety or compliance.
- Ensure effective coordination and integration of electrical systems with Mechanical, Fire Protection, and ELV systems to deliver a complete M&E package.

Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Coordination
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable standards and regulations.
- Act as the primary technical liaison with external consultants, clients, utility providers, and authorities.
- Lead and oversee BIM / Revit coordination from an electrical perspective to ensure clash-free models prior to construction and site mobilization.
- Provide technical evaluation and recommendations during tendering and procurement of electrical equipment, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and technical documents related to electrical works.
- Support the project team during construction, testing, and commissioning (T&C) stages by resolving complex technical issues and ensuring design intent is maintained on site.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by the Board of Engineers.
- Experience : Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical design. At least 5 years of experience within an electrical consultancy environment (mandatory). EPC / EPCM project experience will be added advantage
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of HT/LT power distribution systems, standby generators, UPS systems, and ELV integration. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and electrical calculation software such as ETAP or Amtech.
- Professional Certification: Licensed Electrical Engineer. Chartered Engineer / Professional Engineer (PE) status is highly advantageous.
- Soft Skills Required: Consultant–Contractor Mindset: Ability to translate theoretical design into practical, buildable solutions. Communication: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage client, consultant, and internal expectations. Leadership: Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and manage a design team effectively.
