What role you will play in our team

You will be part of our exciting and growing Process Control Applications team at our Kuala Lumpur Technology Center, where you will be working and collaborating on a global scale. As a member of a broader Applications Engineering job family, you will be sustaining our suite of process control applications across the globe, improving the unit performance or energy use or be actively involved in scoping, developing and deploying new control applications across our business lines in Product Solutions or Upstream.

What you will do
  • Develop and implement regulatory and advanced control applications at ExxonMobil facilities globally.
  • Provide expert technical support to ExxonMobil refineries, chemicals and upstream facilities globally on base and advanced control applications as well as support for capital projects development.
  • Maximize benefits from optimization applications by remotely sustaining and improving the performance of existing Model Predictive Control (MPC) applications by partnering with site personnel to ensure high application uptime.
  • Design new or modify existing process control schematics to improve operators’ ability to respond to abnormal situations.
  • Improve abnormal event detection capability and alarm management at ExxonMobil refineries and chemical facilities worldwide.
  • Participate in developing and deploying technology extension programs, R&D and innovative next‑generation process control tools and techniques to improve the delivery effectiveness of process control applications maximizing value delivery and support of global business priorities.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing effective control applications for downstream refining, petrochemical industry or upstream facilities.
  • Working knowledge in one or more of the following:
    • Distributed Control System (DCS) software and hardware platforms.
    • Ignition or SCADA systems.
    • Procedural Automation and Sequential Control.
    • Model Predictive Control software.
    • Steady State and Dynamic Simulation Tools.
    • Operator Training Simulators.
    • Programming languages.
    • Data analytics and visualization.
