Job summary

A leading global financial services firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Compliance Analyst to ensure compliance with banking and securities laws regarding AML/CFT and Sanctions. The ideal candidate should have a university degree, 2-4 years of experience in sanctions screening, and proficiency in Mandarin preferred. Responsibilities include facilitating compliance, performing sanctions screenings, and collaborating with compliance officers. The position operates Monday to Friday with required holiday work.

Qualifications

  • 2 – 4 years of experience in Sanctions Screening/Trade-Based Money Laundering.
  • 5 years overall experience in Banking and Finance.
  • Familiar with sanctions screening methodologies.

  • Facilitate compliance with AML/CFT and Sanctions regulations.
  • Perform Sanctions screening in PELICAN OFAC.
  • Report and escalate violations and suspicious behavior.

Job description
Key Activities
  • Facilitate compliance of the entity with applicable banking and securities laws, regulations, and internal guidelines regarding AML/CFT and Sanctions.
  • Perform Sanctions screening in PELICAN OFAC (Sanction screening tool of Commerzbank).
  • Perform AML and Sanction screening on Export/Import Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Import/Export Collection received by the bank (SWIFT Messages).
  • Perform AML and Sanction screening on transport documents presented by the presenting bank.
  • Perform Voyage Check and Dual Use Goods check.
  • Ensure high quality of AML and Sanctions screening and reflect this in quarterly desk review.
  • Report and escalates all violations and suspicious behaviour to TPC Compliance Officer.
  • Maintain due diligence at the highest level of quality to protect the bank from regulatory risk that could result in financial and reputational damage.
  • Ensure awareness and full compliance with regulations, policies, guidelines, procedures and practices.
  • Respond to email and queries from internal customers and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Daily trade documents refinement completed according to set SLAs/target given.
  • Perform unloading and loading of documents into Trade Finance Compliance automation tool.
  • Drive improvement in systems, processes and methodologies.
  • Escalate errors to Line Manager and Project Team.
  • Apply best practices and techniques to ensure best possible performance, quality and responsiveness of the developed reports and dashboards of Trade Finance Compliance automation tool.
  • Proactively provide feedback on the improvement required on Trade Finance Compliance automation tool to the Project Team if any.
  • Have a thorough understanding of big data, our data architecture, and how to efficiently manipulate our data.
  • Understand each application's batch flow, timing, and dependencies.
  • Keep track of business and technical solutions.
  • Any other tasks assigned by Head of Due Diligence Team.
Compliance Advisory Service
  • Regularly exercise good judgement in making decisions or recommendations in relation to case investigation.
  • Accurately and thoroughly screen MT messages and transport documents/voyage journey to detect and identify non‑compliance or violations as per Commerzbank AML/Sanctions Policy.
  • Work closely with TPC Compliance Officer / Business Compliance Asia to ensure all requirements by GMCO Frankfurt and Asia are met.
  • Work closely with all TPC Operations Team to utilize proper corrective action procedures as required.
  • Work closely with process managers and provide review in a timely manner or as and when required.
  • Speak out and not be afraid to raise any issues with regards to non‑compliance, if any.
  • Any other tasks assigned by Team Head of Due Diligence Team.
Formal Education

University degree or similar, preferably in Banking, General Management or Law.

Skills & Requirements
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience in Sanctions Screening / TBML.
  • 5 years overall experience in Banking & Finance.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking in Mandarin is preferred.
  • Familiar with sanctions screening methodology.
  • Previous experience in performing Voyage Check through IMB/IHS or any other service provider.
  • Well versed in dual‑use goods and HS Code terminology.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of International Sanctions & Embargoes Regulation.
  • Good knowledge in Trade‑Based Money Laundering.
  • ACAMS Certified / ICA TBML Specialist.
Working Hours

Monday – Friday (9am – 6pm). Required to work on Malaysian public holidays.
