Job Description

We are looking for an individual to join us as a Consulting Director in the VCA team based in Malaysia. The role will act as the overall program head to deliver end‑to‑end consulting engagements for our key issuing, acquiring, merchant and fintech clients. The program covers payment strategy review and roadmap design, portfolio and product‑market fit assessment, customer value proposition design and refresh, people and talent enablement, digital payments wallet assessment and launch, mobile banking app diagnostics and enhancement, and other growth initiatives. It will also cover improving customer engagement on client portfolios powered by Visa’s data and collaborating closely with the data science teams on building data‑driven solutions (e.g., AI model deployment).

The Consulting Director will identify potential clients’ business pain points and areas for strategy and process improvement, define project scope and deliverables, and build new practice solutions that create revenue opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of VCA’s consulting offerings and engagement delivery in Malaysia to help Visa clients protect and grow payments.
• Develop trusted advisor relationships with client senior executives through impactful consulting engagements.
• Partner with peers in other functional areas (e.g., product, marketing, risk, innovation) to execute projects in ways that leverage the breadth and depth of Visa’s resources.
• Prepare client proposals and project plans, identifying dependencies, roles and responsibilities, scope and deliverables.
• Participate in delivering project engagements by preparing project materials including interview guides, data requirements, concepts, and frameworks.
• Conduct industry research, drawing on Visa and partner resources as well as colleagues to identify global best practices and distill insights relevant to the client problem at hand.
• Create compelling presentations to illustrate findings, ideas, and recommendations within consulting engagements and more broadly.
• Support Thought Leadership projects on the future of payments to our clients and partners.

This is a hybrid position. The expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

We are looking to hire the ideal candidate who has already accumulated strong consulting experience and will be curious about the payments industry and keen to work alongside an experienced payments team. You will be client‑driven – you are comfortable managing a project end‑to‑end, and you relish the opportunity to work closely with clients to influence their future performance.

• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in consulting, corporate strategy, banking or business management. Senior‑level experience in Big 4, MBB or boutique consulting firms and equivalent players is valued.
• Good knowledge of the payments industry landscape and developments, consumer trends and regulatory changes in Malaysia.
• Excellent client relationship management with strong sales orientation and experience in selling major projects and ideas to senior management.
• Robust experience in execution and implementation, driving initiatives to deliver concrete demonstrated business impact or value (e.g., cost savings, new product launch, revenue uplift).
• Superior analytical and problem‑solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
• Strong team orientation, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
• Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and written capabilities.
• Self‑motivated, results‑oriented individual with the ability to progress multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong commercial acumen, with experience in working on business or value cases that prove ROI.
• Strong detail orientation, ensuring the highest level of quality and rigor in reports and data analysis.
• Proven ability to drive innovation and lead change in successful top‑tier companies.
• Exposure to customer experience design (using human‑centered design and design thinking).
