Job summary

A leading manufacturing company located in Penang, Malaysia is looking for a Demand Planner to manage short-term and long-term demand forecasts. The successful candidate will ensure alignment between production targets and customer needs, while also supporting inventory planning efforts. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree and ideally have over five years of relevant experience. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with ERP systems is crucial for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of ERP/MRP systems and proficiency in Excel.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Update and maintain short-term and long-term demand forecasts from Sales/ Project Management team using ERP system.
  • Provide weekly and/or monthly reports on forecast accuracy, demand variances, align consensus demand plans with business goals and key planning KPIs.
  • Align production and assembly targets with customer’s needs in collaboration with the production and assembly team.
  • Ensure material availability before launching work orders with the collaboration from related departments. Validate the production plan and launch production work orders on a weekly basis.
  • Utilize various available tools, i.e. order management system, production planning software, optimization model and data repositories to make production decisions.
  • Validate the operations available hours on the short/long term horizon with the Operations and Assembly Manager.
  • Follow-up daily, by assembly line, of the work in progress already released to the floor and parts/process to prioritize.
  • Participate in applicable daily production and assembly meetings and communicate priorities for work-in-progress parts.
  • Participate in applicable new parts kick off meetings.
  • Support inventory planning by maintaining optimal stock levels, reducing slow-moving inventory, and preventing stockouts. Recommend safety stock and reorder points based on demand variability and lead times.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (planning tools, system upgrades or demand planning process enhancements) and other duties as assigned by superiors or dictated by business needs.
  • Other duties and assignments as instructed by superiors from time to time.
  • To comply to all requirements of ISO (inclusive of all standards approved by the Management) and to adhere to general safety practices, standard operating procedure, work instructions, policies and guidelines provided by the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or equivalent years of related experience.
  • Preferably 5 years of working experience in Demand Planning or Supply Chain environment. Knowledge and experience in Automation Assembly Planning field is an added advantage.
  • Proven people skills required, must have ability to work cross-functionally while effectively handling internal pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as in a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Words and Powerpoint).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel with an excellent understanding of ERP/ MRP systems.
