Position: Data Researcher (Pipelines and Facilities)

Location: Penang, Malaysia

About the Team

Join our dynamic Pipelines and Facilities team in Penang, Malaysia. We maintain a comprehensive global database covering oil and gas transportation, processing, and primary market infrastructure. As a Data Researcher, you will collaborate with a diverse, global team, exchanging expertise and knowledge in oil and gas midstream data.

Responsibilities
  • Capture, validate, and process data, establishing connections between various types of midstream facilities. You will work with asset-level attributes such as asset name, location coordinates, operator/ownership structure, capacity, online date, and operating status.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external client inquiries.
  • Achieve individual and team targets, delivering outcomes with quality and efficiency.
  • Stay up to date on oil and gas industry trends and developments.
  • Provide input and ideas for new data collection methods and product improvements related to the covered content sets.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide support to the team as needed.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Science, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in data research, analysis, or in oil and gas-related fields.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong curiosity and investigative skills, with persistence in sourcing data from diverse materials and a genuine desire to solve data challenges.
  • Advanced analytical skills for extracting technical attributes from raw data.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail, with a commitment to verifying information.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with data query and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, MS Power BI).
  • Experience with AI and automation applications for data analysis.
