Job summary

A leading tech firm in Malaysia is seeking a Data Centre Operations Engineer for a contract role based in Sepang. The engineer will perform daily operations and maintenance in the data center, ensuring all equipment operates smoothly and efficiently. Data Centre Operations Engineer (Contract 1 Year -Renewable)

Hitachi Sunway Information Systems – Sepang, Selangor

  • Perform daily operations and maintenance in the data center, including monitoring and recording equipment readings such as UPS, temperature, CRAC unit, and humidity.
  • Monitor customer equipment, uplinks, and sites using monitoring tools. In the event of an incident, provide ad‑hoc support and emergency assistance to ensure minimum downtime.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures (SOP) are followed and conformed by all parties for any work in the data center, including accompanying and welcoming visitors/vendors access.
  • Attend to ad‑hoc support and emergency cases in the data center to maintain minimum downtime.
  • Manage the status of open tickets, complete technical and operational tasks to resolve issues, and close tickets efficiently and correctly. Adhere to company values, best practices, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge base in Windows and Linux operating systems to rectify and resolve customer problems.
  • Perform standard system administration duties, including server install, system/application install, patch management, Windows problem determination and resolution, log analysis, and more.
  • Provide smart‑hand support to various customers with different business nature, requiring specific knowledge tailored to customer needs. Handle sensitive and confidential customer data and equipment, especially for customers with payment gateway or trading company backgrounds, including rebooting, checking physical connections and equipment status, tape handling, and any required requests.
  • Perform daily backup initialization and completion on various backup tools, such as tapes, Windows Backup, Acronis Backup, and Veeam Backup.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and support for assigned customers on schedule.
  • Assist in any other tasks assigned by management.
