Job summary

A global electronics leader based in Penang is seeking an experienced Senior Customer Quality Engineer to coordinate internal quality activities and ensure customer satisfaction. This role involves managing quality notifications, conducting audits, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain high-quality standards. Ideal candidates have at least 5 years of experience in a Quality engineering role, a relevant degree, and effective communication skills. Job description
Overview

As a Senior Customer Quality Engineer (CQE), you will coordinate all internal Molex quality activities and communications related to assigned customer products, initially and for additional strategic customers in the future. You will ensure consistent global quality performance by collaborating across Molex entities producing components and assemblies and maintain direct communication with customers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers. Your role includes managing quality notifications, facilitating quality improvements, and driving uniform actions across global plants to meet quality targets and customer expectations.

Our Team

You will be part of the Global Customer Quality team within the Global Quality Control department. The team works closely with internal stakeholders such as Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Customer Service, and warehouse teams, as well as external contacts including Customer SQE, R&D, MQE, TQC, subcontractors, suppliers, EMS, ODM, and contract manufacturers. Together, we ensure high-quality standards and excellent customer satisfaction worldwide.

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the initial contact for quality issues from customers or contract manufacturers, providing timely support and availability by phone.
  • Review and evaluate all quality data and 8D reports before submission to customers, ensuring customer approval to close quality notifications (QNs).
  • Assign specific customer concerns to appropriate Molex personnel and follow up to resolve issues, providing global expediting and liaison across Molex operating entities.
  • Coordinate the completion and communication of action items to meet quality objectives, scheduling and conducting quality meetings and calls with customers, contract manufacturers, and internal teams.
  • Maintain and track global action item lists, manage customer scorecards related to quality issues, and link scorecard results to Molex sites for follow-up action plans.
  • Conduct proactive visits to customer and Molex locations, participate in regional/global meetings, and engage in relationship-building activities with assigned customers.
  • Coordinate uniform global actions on new product and change management processes impacting assigned customers, including product/process qualification activities within Molex and suppliers.
  • Participate in internal audits of entities supplying assigned customers and support all product and system audits across Molex sites.
  • Support and contribute to Molex’s Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, ISO, Environmental, and Health & Safety management systems by complying with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Quality Engineer role.
  • Proficient in problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and 5 Whys.
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing connector quality issues.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with customers and Molex plants.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple quality notifications simultaneously.
  • Negotiation skills to reduce sorting costs, parts per million (PPM), and official claims.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure while managing workload across multiple customers/plants.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer and Molex plant locations.
  • Sense of urgency with a maximum initial response time for quality notifications of 24 hours.
  • Good reading and writing skills in English, with preference for fluent oral communication.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification (not essential but preferred)
