Job description

Responsibilities

• On‑Site Clearance Execution:
  • Lead and execute all required customs declarations and physical clearance processes directly at the designated point of entry/exit (ports, terminals, LMWs).
  • Ensure the successful and timely processing of all relevant customs forms (K1, K3, K8, K9, etc.) for immediate cargo release.
  • Conduct or supervise the physical verification of cargo when selected for examination by RMCD, ensuring accurate measurement, weight, and content against declared documentation.
• Regulatory Liaison & Problem Resolution:
  • Act as the primary, authorized representative on‑site and maintain a professional relationship with RMCD officers and port authorities.
  • Resolve immediate, on‑ground customs issues, discrepancies, or queries related to classification, valuation, permits, or documentation to prevent cargo hold‑ups.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external freight forwarders to manage the hand‑over and delivery process post‑clearance.
• Documentation and Compliance:
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of all physical documentation (B/L, AWB, invoices, packing lists, permits) against electronic declarations before submission.
  • Ensure all on‑site activities strictly adhere to company SOPs and current Malaysian Customs laws and regulations.
  • Provide real‑time feedback and reports to the Customs Manager regarding site‑specific challenges or regulatory changes encountered.
• Supervisory Duties (Supervisor role):
  • Oversee a small team of declaration executives, managing their daily assignments, training, and ensuring peak efficiency in on‑site operations.
  • Implement scheduling and rotation to ensure round‑the‑clock coverage for critical clearance periods.

Experience

Minimum 4+ years of hands‑on experience in customs brokerage or logistics, with a strong focus on on‑site, physical clearance procedures at major Malaysian ports/terminals.

Technical Expertise

Deep, practical knowledge of customs declaration systems (e.g., uCustoms) and thorough familiarity with port documentation and operating environments.

Compliance Knowledge

Proven ability to apply knowledge of HS codes, trade tariffs, valuation methods, and relevant K‑Forms in a high‑pressure, live operational setting.

Skills

Exceptional interpersonal communication and negotiation skills for liaising with government officials. Highly organized, decisive, and capable of quick, compliant problem‑solving.

Licenses/Certifications

Possession of a valid Malaysian Customs Agent License is a significant advantage.
