A global manufacturing firm in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia seeks a cost accountant with 4-6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will maintain inventory standards, perform variance analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams for process improvements. Candidates should possess a professional qualification or degree in a related field and have strong skills in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel. This role is essential for enhancing cost management and inventory accuracy, contributing significantly to the company's success.
Maintain and update inventory standard costs to ensure accuracy and alignment with current market conditions and production processes.
Perform comprehensive variance analysis and provide actionable insights through simulation and reporting.
Execute forecasting, in-depth analysis, and reporting for inventory valuation, reserves (E&O), and production costs.
Monitor and report on key manufacturing performance indicators to support decision-making.
Perform month‑end closing activities accurately and on time, including journal entry preparation, general ledger account reconciliations, and financial reporting related to cost and inventory.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to coordinate and execute physical inventory stocktakes and cycle counts.
Ensure inventory accuracy and integrity through rigorous reconciliation and adjustment processes.
Drive continuous improvement in processes and internal controls.
Ensure compliance with best practices and company policies by conducting internal audits, preparing variance reconciliations, and analyzing results for corrective action.
Assist in the timely completion of statutory and internal audit requirements by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to cost accounting.
Participate in ad‑hoc financial analysis and special projects as required to support business objectives.
Professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA) or Degree in Accounting, Cost Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 4-6 years of cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of standard costing principles and inventory management.
Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle is a plus) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Detail‑oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
