Control and Instrumentation Engineers (Industrial C&I & BMS)
Job Purpose
The Control and Instrumentation Engineer (C&I) plays a critical role in the design, programming, integration, and operation of Building Management System (BMS) and control solutions. This role is responsible for translating project requirements and specifications into efficient, reliable, and sustainable control systems that optimize building operations.
The C&I Engineer prepares and reviews detailed technical drawings, develops and validates control logic, integrates advanced automation technologies, and ensures system performance through proper installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. The role supports the organization’s commitment to innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainable building operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Technical Documentation
Review, analyze, and prepare detailed Control & Instrumentation drawings, including PLC panel layouts, control schematics, network architecture, and wiring diagrams.
Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
2. Programming & Control Logic Development
Program and configure BMS devices, PLCs, and controllers using industry-standard platforms.
Develop, test, and validate control logic, sequences of operation, and automation strategies for BMS and control systems.
3. System Integration
Integrate BMS and control systems with HVAC, lighting, fire protection, and energy management systems.
Configure, test, and troubleshoot communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, and Profibus to ensure reliable system connectivity.
Supervise and support the installation of control panels, field devices, and BMS hardware in accordance with approved designs.
Commission control systems to ensure stable operation, performance optimization, and compliance with project requirements.
5. Troubleshooting & Maintenance Support
Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, control logic, and network communications.
Provide technical support and maintenance assistance to ensure long-term system reliability and operational continuity.
6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with project managers, consultants, clients, and site teams to align technical execution with project schedules and deliverables.
Provide technical guidance and training to clients and end-users on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Control Systems Engineering.
Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience in BMS engineering, control & instrumentation, or related fields.
Experience in industrial, semiconductor, or complex building environments is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
Strong ability to read and interpret BMS drawings, PLC schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Hands-on experience with PLC and BMS programming platforms such as Siemens and Schneider Electric.
Solid understanding of control logic, automation concepts, and BMS communication protocols.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good interpersonal and communication abilities.
Cooperative team player with the ability to work across disciplines.
Certifications (Preferred)
Certifications in BMS or PLC programming, such as Siemens STEP 7 or Schneider EcoStruxure.
