Job summary

A global consultancy firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced project contract manager to oversee contract procurement and management processes. The role demands a strong background in contract management and data center construction, ensuring compliance and effective communication with stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have a degree in a relevant field, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to work within a dynamic team. Qualifications

  • Experience in Contract Management, Cost Management or Cost Engineering project environment.
  • Prior experience in data center construction.
  • Ability to work with Cost Managers and report out to senior management.

Job Description

Supply Chain Management

  • Manage the Contract Procurement Plan and regularly report out on performance of same.
  • Facilitate project / campus level vendor oversight and performance management.
  • Provide audit and oversight of the GC trade subcontract procurement plan including the recommendation of client nominated bidders.

Contract Management

  • Work closely with the Project on-site team to ensure effective and timely document processing and management of contract documents.
  • Be involved in all post-award activities on site that relates to Contracts. Provide contractual review on all change orders to be processed.
  • Attend weekly change triage meetings to provide contract support on potential change orders
  • Draft Contractual Notices for the Microsoft Team to be issued to the GCs and other vendors for any formal communication, document and track all notices and responses proactively
  • Track contractual milestones and collaborate with DCD Program Manager to ensure alignment with project schedule.
  • Support the claims management process
  • Be the front-liner to manage the Dispute Resolution Process as appropriate in support of FTE Contracts Manager and CELA
  • Handle insurance management for all contracts, liaise with the Microsoft selected insurance company on all renewals and extensions required
  • Manage the Stage 2 Lump Sum / GMP process and engage Project Controls team as appropriate
  • Provide on the job contract advice to the Microsoft Project Management team
Qualifications
  • Experience in Contract Management, Cost Management or Cost Engineering project environment.
  • Prior experience in data center construction.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in related technical field or legal background
  • Ability to work with Cost Managers and report out to Microsoft senior management
  • Excellent client relationship skills
  • Excellent contract and cost negotiation skill
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills, experience in preparing contractual and legal documents
  • Knowledge of and perform to the following industry standards and practices:
    • ASPE (American Society of Professional Estimators)
    • CSI (Construction Specification Institute)
    • AACEI (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering)
    • SCEA (Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis)
    • RICS (The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
