About the Role

As part of the Asia Strategy, we are expanding our Malaysia businesses into Corporate Finance & Business Transformation services. In Business Transformation at FTI Consulting, we focus on our clients’ strategic, operational, financial and capital needs by addressing the full spectrum of financial and transactional challenges faced by corporations, boards, private equity sponsors, creditor constituencies and other stakeholders.

Our services include pre-deal commercial and operations due diligence, post-merger integration, business plan development, restructuring and performance improvement including interim management. Our demanding customer base relies on small and senior teams.

What You’ll Do

We are expanding rapidly and seeking outstanding talent to join our Malaysia Business Transformation Team as Consultant/Senior Consultant in 2026.

The successful candidate will participate in project teams, working with clients on the execution of various engagements and participate in ongoing business development activity.

As such, key activities include:

  • Company financial analysis (knowledge of and experience in P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow assessments preferred)
  • Market analysis
  • Operational analysis (e.g. OEE assessment, FTE benchmark)
  • Identification of upside / downside potentials
  • Financial/ Operational Excel modelling
  • Strategy formulation
  • Private equity due diligence reports
  • Improvement concept development and implementation support
  • Participation in client/internal meetings (regular and extensive travel requirement)
  • Lead client project and delivery

The successful candidate is also expected to:

  • Own and drive long term initiatives with our senior leadership (e.g., strategic direction, account planning)
  • Directly manage and prioritize efforts across short-term asset building activities
  • Develop materials and analysis on key market trends; track announced deals, deal outcomes
  • Support leadership in identifying new opportunities to expand existing / create new client opportunities
  • Prepare business development and thought leadership materials e.g. pitch deck and client presentations
  • Help to ensure coordination across practice, regions, and capability
How You’ll Grow

The role will allow you flexibility to put in place your own framework for success and to work collaboratively with the wider team to support the exciting growth in the FTI Business transformation team. The role is by its nature, flexible allowing for the expansion of opportunities or responsibilities outside of the areas set out above into other matters that you feel can contribute to the broader remit to enhance our technical compliance and operational leanness.

There is also the opportunity to interact with industry bodies and networks and / or develop thought leadership. Given the focus on technical excellence, the role will demand that you remain keen to learn and full support will be given to any third‑party training or coaching required to assist with the role.

Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree level (or equivalent), preferably in a numerical discipline or that has a numerical element, or any business‑related concentrations
  • MBA would be an absolute advantage
  • Demonstrable consulting experience is preferred. Ideally from notable consultancy (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, ADL, Kearney, Roland Berger, etc.
  • Demonstrable industry experience (e.g. manufacturing, automotive, consumer goods, healthcare, transportation and logistics) or solid experience working with PE
  • Ability to demonstrate deliverable results across multiple functions in the following focus areas: Strategy, Transactions; Operations; Business plan review/development; Performance improvement, ideally in turnaround situations, including diagnosis; Strategy; Senior management or PE relationships
  • We would be open to different level candidates. Generally speaking, the number of years of relevant consulting experience for each level are as follows:
    • Consultant: 2-3 years
    • Senior Consultant: 3-6 years

  • Excellent problem solving / consulting skills, specifically:
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with team members and clients at all levels using a range of styles to suit the audience
  • Strong communication skills with experience of producing client ready PowerPoint documents for senior audiences
  • Relationship building skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport, develop strong working relationships and work in diverse teams
  • Analytics and financial modelling skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership over his/her work and work outputs
  • Proven ability to take a hypothesis focused approach to solve problems from first principals
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and confident working with a number of demanding stakeholders, with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Equally strong EQ and IQ
  • Strong commercial acumen/market awareness in Southeast Asia / APAC
  • Flexible approach to work, with the desire and capability to work across sectors and project types
  • Highly numerate with the ability to absorb a high quantum of information
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to lead work streams and teams (as per seniority)
  • Sets the quality bar, develops consultants, and delivers actionable feedback (as per seniority)
  • Desire and ability to learn and be enthusiastic around further training
  • Computer literate with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Exposure to utilizing AI tools in own domain(s) of expertise
