Job description

We’re hiring a detail-oriented Component Engineer with enthusiasm for electronics to steward component/item data, enforce standardization, and lead alternative sourcing initiatives that reduce risk and streamline manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as data steward for new material requests: verify data from datasheets, create and maintain component/ item master records in ERP/PDM/DMS.
  • Act as the first point of contact for material management tickets and inquiries; triage, resolve or elevate issues and use automation/AI tools to accelerate ticket handling.
  • Maintain and apply standardization rules across assigned commodity groups; assist in clustering materials into the correct commodity categories.
  • Assist in identifying potential alternative components for EOL parts and support procurement with technical evaluations.
  • Prepare meeting materials and participate in Component Category reviews; support biannual review sessions led by senior staff.
  • Help improve component data quality by applying the standards defined by Lead Component Engineers and Solution Groups.
  • Support system maintenance activities and suggest small process improvements to improve data accuracy and ticket turnaround time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical/Materials/Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical discipline with 1–3 years’ experience with material/data management support.
  • Diploma holder with 4-5 years’ experience with ERP/PDM/PLM systems (SAP, Arena, Windchill, or similar) or material/data management support.
  • Good technical literacy to interpret datasheets and basic component specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and problem-solving mindset.
  • Good command of written and spoken English; Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
  • Willingness to use automation/AI tools for ticketing and data validation; basic Excel proficiency required.
  • Exposure to component lifecycle processes (EOL/PCN), supplier interactions or alternate sourcing will be added advantage.
