Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation and Setup
    • Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, engraving machines) tailored for jewelry‑scale production.
    • Select and install tools, jigs, and fixtures needed for machining.
    • Load material (precious metals, wax, or resin blanks) and calibrate equipment.
  • Programming and Editing
    • Create, modify, or interpret CNC programs using G‑code or CAM software (e.g., RhinoCAM, ArtCAM, or similar).
    • Optimize tool paths to enhance precision and minimize material waste.
  • Precision Machining
    • Machine components to extremely tight tolerances (often microns) required for jewelry like rings, bezels, and settings.
    • Monitor machine during operation to ensure smooth performance and prevent tool crashes.
  • Quality Control
    • Inspect finished products using magnification tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
    • Ensure pieces meet aesthetic and dimensional standards, including surface finish and fit.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    • Maintain CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor mechanical adjustments.
    • Troubleshoot machine or programming issues that affect quality or efficiency.
  • Collaboration & Design Support
    • Work closely with designers and CAD technicians to translate 3D jewelry designs into machinable formats.
    • Suggest improvements for manufacturability, especially when dealing with intricate or delicate pieces.
  • Material Handling and Safety
    • Handle precious metals (gold) and ensure secure storage.
    • Follow safety and cleanliness protocols to prevent contamination or loss of material.
