Job Purpose
The Clerk of Works will act as the client’s representative on-site to ensure that all M&E works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, coordination drawings, architectural drawings, C&S structure drawings, specifications, contract requirements, statutory regulations, and quality standards. The role ensures proper supervision, monitoring, and reporting of site activities to safeguard the employer’s interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Supervision & Inspection: Monitor and inspect daily M&E cast in activities (conduits, pipings, pipe sleeve, puddle collar and all cast in related items). Monitor & Inspect installed M&E works. Ensure works are carried out in compliance with approved drawings, coordination drawings, specifications, and standards. Conduct inspections of cast in conduits, pipings, pipe sleeve at critical stages (before concreting, finishes, etc.).
- Quality Assurance: Check materials delivered and used at site to ensure compliance with specifications and is approved by respective Consultants/Architect. Identify and report defective works, poor workmanship, or non-conformance issues. Witness FAT, SAT, material tests, pre test, pressure test, meggar test, continuity test, flow test, hydrostatic test, testing & commissioning, including other test mentioned in specification and ensure rectifications are carried out if found to be defective.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Keep accurate inspection record, test record and progress updates. Verify the schedule work progress against the actual site progress and notify on.
- Coordination: Liaise with architects, consultants, main contractors and subcontractors on ALL site-related issues. Ensure instructions from the Architect/Consultants are communicated and implemented. Attend site and coordination meetings, authorities inspection (any meetings as and when required).
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure execution of works comply to site safety procedure, local authority requirements, and contract specifications. Monitor site safety practices and immediately report unsafe acts or conditions.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Required experience - 3 to 4 years of site supervision experience in building/infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Malaysian building codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
- Proficient in reading drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- CIDB Green Card holder (mandatory).
Additional Advantages
- Certification from ICoW (Institute of Clerk of Works Malaysia/BEM) is an added advantage.
- Experience in high-rise, commercial, mixed development, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with ISO/QAQC procedures and construction safety practices.
