Job description

We are an integrated oleochemical company focused on sustainable palm oil-based products, currently looking for a Chief Engineer to oversee the technical and engineering operations at our Port Klang facility. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance of our production processes, which include biodiesel, refined palm oils, glycerine, and a range of other oleochemical products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily engineering and maintenance activities to ensure seamless plant operations.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment and machinery.
  • Address technical issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
2. Process Optimization & EƯiciency:
  • Monitor and analyze production processes for products such as Palm Methyl Esters (PME or Biodiesel), Refined Bleached and Deodorised Palm Oil (RBD PO), and Glycerine.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance yield and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate new technologies and best practices.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations, including certifications like ISCC, RSPO SCCS, and MSPO SCCS.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce safety protocols for plant personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and governmental regulations.
  • Lead and mentor the engineering and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Coordinate with departments such as production and quality control to align engineering activities with business objectives.
5. Budgeting & Resource Management:
  • Prepare and manage the engineering and maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize plant efficiency.
  • Oversee procurement of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Plan and execute plant expansion, upgrades, and modernization projects.
  • Evaluate and implement automation and digital monitoring systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to ensure timely project completion.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 7-10 years in the oleochemical or biodiesel industry, with leadership experience in plant operations.
Technical Expertise:
  • In-depth knowledge of biodiesel production processes, including transesterification, and refining of palm oil products.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment such as reactors, distillation columns, and separation units.
  • Experience with automation systems like SCADA and DCS.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety standards relevant to the oleochemical industry.
  • Leadership & Problem‑Solving: Proven ability to lead teams, troubleshoot technical issues, and drive process improvements.
  • Based at our Port Klang facility, the role involves exposure to chemicals, high temperatures, and industrial equipment.
  • Requires on-site presence with occasional travel for training and vendor coordination.
  • May involve on-call responsibilities for emergencies.
  • Alternate Saturday Arrangement (Half Day Work).
