Job Summary
The CEO is the highest-ranking executive responsible for setting the vision and strategy of the organization, overseeing company-wide operations to ensure sustainable growth, and managing relationships with key stakeholders. The CEO demonstrates leadership to achieve organizational goals and create long-term value, while being accountable for the overall business performance.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Develop and execute mid- to long-term business strategy (3–5 years).
- Coordinate strategy and decision-making with HQ and local executives.
- Report to the Board and shareholders on business performance.
- Commercial & Customer Management
- Manage key customer relationships and lead major contract negotiations.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Manage customer portfolio with profitability KPIs.
- Logistics & Operational Management
- Optimize end-to-end logistics operations (transportation, warehousing, last mile, freight forwarding).
- Manage operations based on KPIs (OTD, Inventory Turnover, Cost per Shipment).
- Lead process improvements and digitalization initiatives.
- Oversee P&L, budgeting and cost control.
- Develop plans to improve key cost items (labor, transport, warehouse).
- Conduct profitability analysis and lead cost-reduction taskforces.
- Recruit and develop local talent, plan for succession.
- Lead cultural integration and communication initiatives.
- Establish KPI-based performance evaluation and talent development systems.
- External & Regulatory Affairs
- Build relationships with Malaysian authorities (MITI, MIDA, Customs, Ports).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax issues.
- Serve as spokesperson in media or public communications.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years in logistics/SCM, with 5+ years in a C-level or MD/COO role.
- In-depth understanding of international logistics operations.
- Proven experience with P&L, strategic and performance management.
- Familiarity with Malaysian business culture and local networks.
- Good-to-have:
- Experience in multinational companies or JV environments.
- Experience in logistics system transformation (WMS, TMS, ERP).
- Experience in multicultural team leadership and integration.
- Strategic Thinking: Able to synthesize complex market and organizational dynamics.
- Decision Making: Takes data-driven and field-informed decisions quickly.
- Communication & Influence: Manages stakeholders across HQ, field, and government.
- Organization Development: Builds performance culture and talent pipelines.
