Category Manager / Strategic Buyer (Machinery Capex) – B. Braun Medical Industries, S/B – Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia. This role is integral to our procurement function, driving category strategy, supplier management, and value creation across our machinery Capex portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category strategy in partnership with business stakeholders and global procurement.
- Perform deep business requirement analysis and value chain assessment to pinpoint cost savings and improvement opportunities.
- Leverage supplier market knowledge to identify and introduce innovations.
- Manage the Source to Contract process: plan and conduct competitive tenders, negotiate contracts, and supervise ad‑hoc procurement activities.
- Oversee supplier management, including regular business reviews, KPI development, and performance improvement.
- Monitor supplier capacity, financial stability, quality and technical capability, and implement risk‑mitigation plans.
- Administer purchase requisition approvals and report on cost savings aligned with annual targets.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, maintaining compliance with integrity standards and B. Braun’s code of conduct.
- Lead or support projects to challenge existing sourcing processes, deliver operational excellence, and generate new sourcing opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Minimum 8 years of experience as a Strategic Buyer in CAPEX and production‑related categories.
- Proven negotiation and procurement expertise with a track record of delivering measurable results.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Experience in supplier performance management and relationship building.
- Contract management proficiency with stakeholders and suppliers.
- Exposure to sustainability initiatives within a procurement category.
