Job summary

A leading provider of optical manufacturing solutions is looking for a Mechanical Designer to create product and process drawings. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in mechanical design specifically within the semiconductor or optical industry, along with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. This role involves defining carriers and tooling during product development and ensuring successful transfer from R&D to production. The position requires proficiency in CAD/CAM software and strong organizational and communication skills.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Create product or process drawings based on technical requirements.
• Define and design intralogistics carriers, tooling & jigs during new product development stage.
• Coordinate with external suppliers for tooling and jigs readiness.
• Support the DFM process from new product design to completed production line modification.
• Create and manage all product and process tooling & jigs related drawings, geometrical specifications, and maintain the design list.
• Evaluate internal and external change requests to product or process with respect to geometrical implications.
• Work cross-functionally with Design, Product Engineering, Process Integration, and Process Development to identify and improve tooling & jigs design based on new process development feasibility.
• Summarize complex problems regarding new tooling & jigs design, develop actions to address them, and build consensus across teams to drive solutions.
• Define and achieve sub-milestones for projects within the larger program timelines.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing as new product and technology is transferred from R&D phase into production.

Key Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in mechanical design within the semiconductor or optical industry.
• BSc/MSC/PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes in optical or semiconductor industry.
• Knowledge of tolerances to best fit product design.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM/NX/SolidWorks software.
• Experience designing mechanical parts.
