Business Services Payroll Senior Consultant

The Business Services Payroll Senior Consultant position is an exciting opportunity for candidates who thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced business process outsourcing (BPO) environment.

The Payroll Senior Consultant is responsible for managing client relationships and overseeing all aspects of payroll operations, employee benefits, and HR‑related matters for clients across multiple countries, with a strong focus on Japan‑based subsidiaries of global companies.

The role involves close collaboration with internal teams, partners, and advisors to ensure seamless service delivery and high‑quality payroll outcomes.

Comprehensive on‑the‑job training will be provided for Japan and other country‑specific payroll processes, local regulations, and system operations. This position is ideal for professionals who are confident in client communication, leadership, and project management, and who are eager to deepen their technical and consulting expertise while progressing toward a managerial role.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients on all payroll, employee benefits, and HR‑related matters.
  • Communicate via email, phone, and online meetings with clients.
  • Review calculation results, email drafts, insurance registration documents, etc., prepared by other team members.
  • Oversee the full payroll cycle and ensure accurate and compliant service delivery across payroll and benefits processes.
  • Guide and review the work of junior team members to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with statutory requirements and client policies.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects within the payroll service team.
  • Collaborate with external payroll vendors and partners to ensure timely and accurate processing while maintaining awareness of local requirements.
Required Qualifications
Skills and Experience
  • At least 4 years of working experience, preferably in payroll, accounting, finance, or similar professional services.
  • Business‑level English reading and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing Chinese characters.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience coaching or reviewing junior team members’ work.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
