Job summary

A leading renewable energy company is looking for a Business Development Manager to expand its Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems business across Commercial & Industrial and Utilities segments. This is a hunter role focused on identifying new opportunities and driving sales. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 3 years of B2B sales experience in the solar industry. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential. Willingness to travel is required.

About the role

Our client is seeking a driven and results-oriented Business Development Manager to grow its Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) business across Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Utilities segments. This is a hunter role, focused on identifying new opportunities, winning new customers, and driving project-based sales in the renewable energy sector. The role requires a strong blend of technical understanding and commercial execution.

Key responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities for Solar PV and BESS solutions within C&I and utility customers.
  • Actively prospect and build a robust sales pipeline through market mapping, networking, and direct outreach.
  • Engage decision-makers including asset owners, developers, EPCs, consultants, and utility stakeholders.
  • Lead the full sales cycle from lead generation and proposal development to negotiation and contract closure.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to develop commercially viable and technically sound solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity within the solar and energy storage space.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and performance reports for management.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in B2B sales within the solar industry, preferably covering C&I or utility-scale projects.
  • Proven hunter mindset with a track record of winning new business and closing deals.
  • Strong understanding of Solar PV systems and/or BESS solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently in a target-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required for client and project engagement.
