Responsibilities
Prepare and Bake Baked Goods
- Produce a variety of high-quality baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and specialty items, using standardized recipes and techniques.
- Adjust baking times and temperatures based on specific product requirements or equipment performance.
- Monitor baking progress to ensure items are cooked evenly, achieving the desired taste, texture, and appearance.
Measure and Mix Ingredients Accurately
- Weigh, measure, and combine ingredients with precision to ensure consistent product quality.
- Adjust ingredient ratios as needed for scaling recipes to larger or smaller quantities.
- Maintain detailed records of ingredient usage and recipe adjustments for quality assurance.
Operate and Maintain Bakery Equipment
- Safely operate mixers, ovens, proofers, slicers, and other bakery equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment to prolong their lifespan and maintain safety.
- Report malfunctions or issues to supervisors and coordinate repairs to avoid production delays.
Inventory Management
- Track the use of raw materials, ensuring ingredients are stocked and fresh.
- Conduct regular inventory checks to avoid shortages or spoilage.
- Coordinate with suppliers to replenish stock and ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients.
Ensure Food Safety and Hygiene
- Follow strict hygiene practices, including cleaning surfaces, washing hands, and wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Adhere to food safety regulations, such as proper storage, temperature control, and prevention of cross-contamination.
- Conduct regular cleaning of workstations, refrigerators, and storage areas to maintain a sanitary environment.
Collaborate with the Bakery Team
- Work closely with fellow bakers, decorators, and assistants to coordinate production and meet deadlines.
- Share knowledge and techniques with team members to promote skill development and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively to resolve challenges, such as unexpected demand or equipment issues.
