Job description

To design, develop, and implement mechanical automation systems and equipment to support manufacturing efficiency, quality, and IR4.0 initiatives. Responsible for leading automation projects from concept through final validation, ensuring mechanical, electrical, and control systems are fully integrated. The role demands strong mechanical design capability, hands‑on project execution, and cross‑functional collaboration to achieve cost, quality, and performance objectives.

Job Areas
1. Project & System Development

Lead mechanical automation projects — from concept design, prototyping, fabrication, and integration to commissioning and system handover.

Design and develop custom mechanical automation solutions including jigs, fixtures, robotic handling systems, and automated machinery.

Collaborate with controls and electrical engineers to integrate PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and vision systems into mechanical designs.

Perform detailed mechanical design work using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and prepare drawings, BOMs, and documentation.

Support continuous improvement and system optimization for existing mechanical automation systems and equipment.

2. Technical & Cross‑Functional Support

Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for automation equipment and mechanical systems.

Work closely with process, production, and quality teams to define User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Functional Specifications (FS).

Participate in new product introduction (NPI) trials, ensuring automation systems meet process and performance requirements.

Evaluate and qualify mechanical components, systems, and vendors to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.

3. Project Management

Plan and manage small to medium mechanical automation and IR4.0 projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.

Prepare and maintain project documentation — URS, FS, design drawings, FAT/SAT reports, and operation manuals.

Ensure adherence to global safety standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 13849‑1, CE, UL).

Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and system integrators for design review, fabrication, and commissioning activities.

Supervise and mentor technicians or interns in automation design and assembly tasks.

Support the implementation of data‑driven decision‑making and predictive maintenance through mechanical system sensors and analytics.

Track and report project KPIs to evaluate system performance, downtime, and improvement impact.
