Summary: To design, develop, and implement mechanical automation systems and equipment to support manufacturing efficiency, quality, and IR4.0 initiatives. Responsible for leading automation projects from concept through final validation, ensuring mechanical, electrical, and control systems are fully integrated. Job Responsibilities
1. Project & System Development
- Lead mechanical automation projects from concept design, prototyping, fabrication, and integration to commissioning and system handover.
- Design and develop custom mechanical automation solutions including jigs, fixtures, robotic handling systems, and automated machinery.
- Collaborate with controls and electrical engineers to integrate PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and vision systems into mechanical designs.
- Perform detailed mechanical design work using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and prepare drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement and system optimization for existing mechanical automation systems and equipment.
2. Technical & Cross-Functional Support
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for automation equipment and mechanical systems.
- Work closely with process, production, and quality teams to define User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Functional Specifications (FS).
- Participate in new product introduction (NPI) trials, ensuring automation systems meet process and performance requirements.
- Evaluate and qualify mechanical components, systems, and vendors to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
3. Project Management
- Plan and manage small to medium mechanical automation and IR4.0 projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation URS, FS, design drawings, FAT/SAT reports, and operation manuals.
- Ensure adherence to global safety standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 13849-1, CE, UL).
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and system integrators for design review, fabrication, and commissioning activities.
4. Team Leadership & Data Culture
- Supervise and mentor technicians or interns in automation design and assembly tasks.
- Support the implementation of data‑driven decision‑making and predictive maintenance through mechanical system sensors and analytics.
- Track and report project KPIs to evaluate system performance, downtime, and improvement impact.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum 35 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical automation design, system integration, and project management in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD).
- Experience in motion systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical assembly.
- Familiar with PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and automation interfaces.
- Knowledge of safety standards (ISO 13849-1, CE, UL).
- Advantages: Python, data analytics, Power BI, and IoT integration for IR4.0 projects.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem‑solving, analytical thinking, project planning, and communication skills.
