Job description

The Assistant Production supports the planning, coordination, and on‑site execution of productions and events at JCPAC. This role provides administrative and operational support to the production team, helping ensure rehearsals, performances, and events run smoothly and according to plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, coordination and execution of productions from pre‑production through rehearsals, performances, load‑out and changeovers.
  • Assist in preparing and organising production documentation such as schedules, timelines, contact lists, technical riders and production‑related paperwork.
  • Act as a support point for artists, visiting companies, and technical teams.
  • Assist with resource planning, on‑site production logistics, including access, call times, and basic coordination of crews.
  • Support production meetings and recces, and take notes or track follow‑up actions where required.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (technical and venue operations) to support production needs.
  • Assist in liaising with external vendors and service providers under the guidance of the Production Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with venue policies, safety standards, and production procedures.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Theatre Production, Arts Management, Events, or a related field is an advantage; relevant professional or hands‑on experience will be equally valued.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in theatre, live events, or production support roles (internships, attachments, and freelance experience welcomed).
  • Basic understanding of production workflows and technical theatre disciplines.
  • Basic understanding of technical theatre disciplines (lighting, sound, stage, AV).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical plots and stage plans.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, live performance environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Good communication skills, a proactive attitude, and strong teamwork abilities.
