Job summary

A prominent automotive company in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, seeks a Corporate Finance Analyst to prepare strategic blueprints, evaluate business proposals, and support M&A initiatives. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, a professional qualification, and a minimum of 6 years' experience in corporate finance or accounting. Strong financial modelling and analytical skills are essential. This dynamic role involves multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, with responsibilities including research, reporting, and performance analysis.

  • Prior Corporate Finance experience with an investment bank, consulting firm or private equity firm would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the Divisional Strategy Blueprint and assist with the strategy planning processes.
  • Evaluate, assess, and challenge Business Proposals from markets/operating entities.
  • Assist with feasibility studies and valuations for M&A proposals.
  • Conduct automotive industry and economic outlook research.
  • Analyze performance of countries and operating units against peers.
  • Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports for the Management team.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategy
    • Prepare the Divisional Strategy Blueprint and related documents and assist with the strategy planning processes.
  2. Business Proposals
    • Evaluate, Assess & Challenge Business Proposals submitted by markets/operating entities.
    • Provide support in drafting the business proposal, valuation and financial modelling parameters.
    • Assess approval threshold limits of authority for business proposals.
  3. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Business Development proposals
    • Assist with feasibility studies and valuations.
    • Review/Prepare operating entities/markets proposal papers.
    • Review and due diligence findings for inclusion in the investment proposals and prepare approval papers for due diligence consultant appointments.
    • Provide support during the due diligence process, including reviewing the due diligence findings, flagging key findings to key stakeholders and compiling project documentation.
    • Assess/Support markets/operating entities on the appropriate limits of authority for M&A and Business Development proposals.
  4. Research
    • Conduct automotive industry and economic outlook research.
    • Provide research support and disseminate research publications and data to the markets.
  5. Business Analysis and Benchmarking
    • Analyze performance of countries and operating units against peers via internal and external benchmarking to identify areas for improvement and cost saving initiatives.
  6. Investor Relations
    • Analysis and commentary on financial results, sales data and industry outlook for the relevant financial periods, New product/branch launches from all Motors’ countries of operations.
    • Provide requested information from external stakeholders e.g. credit rating agencies, investment analysts.
    • Annual report – Assist with the write-up and compilation of the Operational Review segment.
  7. Performance Tracking & Monitoring
    • Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports for the Management team.
    • Budget – Assist/Review Budgeting process.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • Professional Accounting qualification (ICAEW, ACCA, CPA Australia/NZ)
