Position Title

Assistant Manager, Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

Reporting To

Head Safety, Security & Compliance

Role Purpose

The Assistant Manager, Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) is responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and maintaining a proactive and risk‑centric Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Management System across MAG Culinary Solutions (MAGCS) operations.

This position ensures full compliance with national regulatory requirements, including those of DOSH, CAAM, and airline standards, while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. The role supports safe, secure, hygienic, and efficient catering through the structured implementation of the Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Policy, Safety Management System (SMS), and Quality Management System (QMS).

Key Accountability

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and manage MAGCS SHE strategies, policies, and goals in line with MAG corporate objectives and sustainability commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with DOSH, CAAM, MOH, and airline requirements by continuously reviewing and improving operational safety standards.

Risk and Safety Management

  • Lead the identification, assessment, and control of operational and occupational risks, using hazard analysis and mitigation plans to keep risks As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
  • Promote proactive safety initiatives and raise risk awareness across MAGCS operations and subcontracted activities.

Audit & Compliance

  • Establish and manage an integrated internal audit and surveillance program covering QMS, SMS, OSH, and environmental compliance within all MAGCS operational areas and contractors.
  • Ensure findings and non‑conformances are properly analyzed, reported, and closed within targeted timelines through root cause and trend analysis.

Incident & Accident Investigation

  • Lead and coordinate investigations of incidents, near misses, occupational diseases, or dangerous occurrences.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of Corrective and Preventive Action Plans (CAPA) to prevent recurrence and enhance organisational learning.

Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Maintain, test, and improve the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for MAGCS, including fire, accident, contamination, or evacuation scenarios, in coordination with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
  • Ensure readiness of the Incident Response Team (IRT) and First Aiders across all shifts and operational areas.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor and report SHE performance, audit results, and incident trends to management using dashboards and review meetings.
  • Suggest data‑driven improvements and initiatives to continuously enhance MAGCS’s SHE performance

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with DOSH, CAAM, MAHB, MOH, and airline representatives to ensure alignment and compliance with statutory and industry standards.
  • Promote transparency and cooperation with external auditors, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.
Qualification & Working Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, Aviation Management, or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Must hold a valid Green Book (Safety & Health Officer Certification) registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia.
  • At least 5 years of experience in safety, health, or quality management in aviation catering, inflight services, or related operations, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
