Job summary

A retail company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced candidate to lead and supervise the Financial Reporting team. This role involves overseeing monthly closing activities, ensuring compliance with financial standards, and preparing management accounts. The ideal applicant will have at least 5 years of experience in financial reporting, a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and strong leadership skills. Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the Financial Reporting team in monthly closing activities and reporting for all entities within the Group.
  • Assist in the consolidation and preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts, financial statements, and other financial reports, ensuring timely submission and compliance with relevant standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Financial Reporting Standards, Companies Act, Bursa Malaysia guidelines).
  • Support the preparation of quarterly announcements and board papers for Board of Directors’ meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation and updating of monthly and quarterly forecasts and budgets.
  • Ensure the team delivers accurate and timely results for general accounting activities, financial reporting, fixed asset management, and statutory reporting (including report preparation and reconciliations).
  • Manage and coordinate system reconciliations, ensuring any discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved.
  • Liaise with tax agents, auditors, company secretaries, bankers, lawyers, and relevant authorities on all related matters.
  • Support ad hoc assignments or projects as required by the superior.
Requirements
  • :Minimum 5 years of working experience in General Ledger, Financial Reporting, or related fields
  • .Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • .Professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, MICPA) are an added advantage
  • .Strong knowledge of accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and consolidation processes
