Job Summary

This pivotal role will be responsible for the credit administration operations function to effectively support the team and the Business Banking divisions as a whole in accordance with Shariah principles. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of Islamic financing, regulatory requirements, and best practices in credit operations within an Islamic banking framework.

Responsibilities
  • Policy and Procedure: Operationalising and implementing comprehensive credit admin & operations policies and procedures that adhere to the bank's credit policies, Shariah guidelines, BNM’s regulatory requirements (BNM) and industry best practices in Islamic banking.
  • Workflow Design: Operationalising and implementing efficient workflows for all credit admin & operations processes, including Shariah compliance checks, security documentation (where permissible under Shariah), collateral processing (in accordance with Shariah), and Islamic financing lifecycle management.
  • Operational Support: Ensure the Credit Admin & Operations unit is fully prepared and equipped to support the processing and administration of Business banking financing deals, and other complex Islamic financing products.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor risk controls and ensure strict adherence to the bank's credit policies, Shariah pronouncements, statutory provisions, and relevant BNM regulations including those related to credit risk management within an Islamic framework.
  • Shariah Governance: Collaborate closely with the Shariah Supervisory Board and internal Shariah advisors to ensure all credit administration operations are in full compliance with Shariah principles and guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with Business Banking, Product Development, Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Shariah Advisory, and Technology departments to ensure smooth and efficient credit operations processes.
  • Project Management: Supporting the Lead and managing projects undertaken by the department, ensuring successful implementation within agreed timeframes and budgets, and in accordance with Shariah requirements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of credit operations reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, adhering to Islamic banking reporting standards.
Jobholder's requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Islamic Finance, Banking, Business Administration or Economics.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financing operations, and credit administration within a financial institution, with a significant portion of experience focused on corporate and business banking Islamic financing deals.
  • A proven track record of supporting a credit administration or loan operations unit preferably within an Islamic banking environment, is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Islamic financing products (e.g., Murabahah, Ijarah, Musharakah, Mudarabah, Wakalah), credit processes, security documentation (Shariah-compliant), and collateral processing (in accordance with Shariah) relevant to Business banking.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory and legal framework governing Islamic banking and financing operations in Malaysia, including Bank Negara Malaysia guidelines for Islamic financial institutions.
  • Strong commitment to Shariah compliance, risk management, and operational excellence within an Islamic banking framework.
