Our Client:

A growing and well‑established organization with multi‑functional business operations, supporting both operational and commercial activities through structured financial governance, sound internal controls, and compliance‑driven accounting practices.

Role Overview:

The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing general ledger functions and supporting full‑spectrum accounting operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, and effective financial controls. The role plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity and supporting management decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee general ledger accounting activities, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely month‑end and year‑end closing in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Supervise and review accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including invoicing, collections, vendor invoice processing, payment scheduling, and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, trial balances, and management reports, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Monitor job costing, billing accuracy, and profitability analysis, ensuring proper cost allocation and financial control across operational activities.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, fund planning, and cash flow monitoring to ensure sufficient liquidity and effective financial management.
  • Oversee payroll processing, including salary computation, reconciliations, and confidentiality of payroll data.
  • Manage statutory and regulatory submissions, including income tax, PCB, EPF, SOCSO, EIS, and other relevant statutory contributions, ensuring full compliance with local regulations.
  • Coordinate GST or other indirect tax submissions, including quarterly filings, reconciliations, and documentation support.
  • Maintain proper accounting records, documentation, and filing systems to support internal controls, audits, and management reviews.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks, vendors, and internal stakeholders to address accounting matters and support financial operations.
  • Support budgeting activities, ad‑hoc financial analysis, and reporting requests from management to aid operational and strategic decision‑making.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of hands‑on experience in full set of accounts, with strong exposure to general ledger management.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting, statutory compliance, payroll processing, and tax regulations.
  • Experience in logistics, shipping, warehousing, or service‑oriented industries will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, with strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills.
  • Good analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities, with the capability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in handling financial and payroll information.
