Job summary

A multinational real estate service provider is seeking a Facilities Manager in Malaysia to oversee M&E services and ensure efficient preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate will assist in managing operations, HSE compliance, and vendor management while providing expertise in engineering disciplines. Candidates must have relevant experience in critical environments and possess strong communication skills. This position may also involve managing technical teams and ensuring safety standards are adhered to.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in engineering or critical environment space.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in electrical and mechanical services operation in a data centre.
  • Having 33KV Chargeman Certificate is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the M&E services and ensure effectiveness of preventive maintenance program.
  • Assist in the implementation of operational standards and procedures.
  • Create and update the site asset register for compliance.
  • Conduct Job Hazards Analysis and submit relevant data to Facilities Manager.

Skills

Hands-on experience and knowledge in M&E and building related systems
Experience with PDU, UPS, switchgear operations
Strong communication and presentation skills

Education

Tertiary Qualifications in mechanical, electrical or operational engineering
Job description

Responsible in managing the M&E services and ensuring the effectiveness of the overall planned preventive maintenance program. Assist the Senior Facilities Manager in providing site facility management (operation & maintenance), HSE management, procurement & vendor management, helpdesk team management and technical team management. Must be Certified Data Centre Professional.

Compliance to both Client and JLL guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Facility Management (Operation & Maintenance)
  • Assist in the implementation of operation-related standards and procedures, preventive & planned maintenance program, repair & replacement initiative program, and helpdesk management, minimizing the risk of plant failure.
  • Recommend continuous management initiatives and energy management plan, actively searching for opportunities to improve results and increase energy efficiency (PUE – Power Utilization Efficiencies).
  • Create and update the site asset register and ensure statutory compliance.
  • Review stock levels of required inventory of spares on site.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills; good presentation skills required for client review meetings.
  • Manage ad-hoc related projects.
  • Conduct Job Hazards Analysis (JHA).
  • Submit relevant reporting data and ensure timely submission to Facilities Manager.
  • Provide 2nd level support and manage site operation in the absence of Facilities Manager.
  • HSE Management: ensure site provides a safe working environment and complies with HSE standards; work closely with HSE Executive to plan, execute and deliver HSE procedures to all activities at site.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management: conduct performance assessment of technical vendors and ensure delivery meets agreed SLA/KPI; assist Facilities Manager with vendor procurement processes.
  • Technical Team Management: prepare job descriptions for all technical staff, assign relevant manpower to specific tasks, and provide advice to the technical team and overall management of their work schedule.
  • Helpdesk Team Management: prepare job description for Helpdesk Administrator, ensuring SLA/KPI adherence with superior customer service management.
Qualifications And Ideal Experiences
  • Tertiary Qualifications in a mechanical, electrical or operational engineering discipline.
  • 3–4 years of relevant experience in engineering or critical environment space.
  • Having 33KV Chargeman Certificate will be an advantage.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in the operation of electrical and mechanical services in Tier III or equivalent data centre or critical facility.
  • Excellent people skills and ability to interact with a wide range of client and vendor staff.
  • Critical environment experience within a similarly sized site or operation.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, client relationship management and preparation of reports.
Skills
  • Hands‑on experience and knowledge in M&E and building related systems, e.g., CRAU, chillers.
  • PDU, UPS, switchgear operations, DX cooling, network structure cabling, security.
  • Lead major DC activities during non‑office hours where appropriate.
