A leading manufacturing company in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking an Assembly Process Engineer to develop and optimize assembly processes while ensuring product quality and compliance. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, accompanied by 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include process documentation, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and leading continuous improvement initiatives in a high-production environment. Candidates are expected to have strong problem-solving and CAD skills.
Develop, implement, and optimize assembly processes, tooling, and workflows.
Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve productivity and throughput.
Evaluate new technologies and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency.
Provide engineering support to assembly operators and technicians.
Diagnose and resolve assembly defects, equipment issues, and process variation.
Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Create and maintain assembly work instructions, SOPs, PFMEAs, and control plans.
Ensure all documentation complies with quality and safety standards.
Maintain accurate process records and part specifications.
Work closely with Quality team to ensure products meet specifications.
Monitor assembly KPIs (yield, cycle time, scrap rate).
Support internal and external audits related to assembly processes.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, production, and supply chain teams.
Participate in new product introduction (NPI) and design-for-assembly (DFA) activities.
Coordinate with vendors for tools, fixtures, and equipment improvements.
Lead or support Lean Manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma).
Propose improvements to reduce cost, increase throughput, and enhance quality.
Conduct time studies and capacity analysis.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
2–5 years experience in assembly or manufacturing environment (entry-level acceptable depending on company need).
Strong understanding of assembly techniques, manufacturing principles, and lean tools.
Experience with assembly equipment, jigs/fixtures, and process validation.
Ability to read engineering drawings and use CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
