Job description
Overview

This role is crucial for the successful implementation of Anaplan at Manulife. It involves engaging with internal customers and project stakeholders, providing design guidance and development of Anaplan solutions, and serving as the point of contact for Anaplan expertise, advice, planning, enhancement, and implementation. As our Anaplan Model Builder, the selected candidate will support the entire Anaplan development lifecycle, including model building, delivery, iteration, and maintenance. They will manage all aspects of Anaplan delivery, collaborating with internal and external support, and working closely with Business Units, Regional, and Corporate Teams to understand business use cases. The candidate will also enhance existing models and support Finance teams with the system development roadmap and broader business use of Anaplan. This position reports to the delivery lead of Global Finance Anaplan CoE and is functionally accountable to the Head of the Global Finance Anaplan CoE. The Anaplan Analyst is primarily responsible for supporting the model development of Anaplan initiatives and projects for the Global Finance Anaplan CoE.

Position Responsibilities
  • Deliver large and complex end to end Anaplan implementation projects including requirement gathering, solution design and build, oversight of testing, business readiness, training material preparation through to go-live and post go-live support.
  • Engage with business users to gather and document business requirements and translate into actionable Anaplan solutions.
  • Design and develop Anaplan models, utilizing best practices and industry standards. Lead workshops, training sessions, and user acceptance testing to drive successful solution adoption.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Anaplan with other Manulife systems.
  • Present complex technical concepts and ideas in business, management, and project meetings.
  • Ensure implementation of robust framework of controls and governance across the Anaplan landscape.
  • Enable end-users to engage with the models by incorporating dashboards and visualization.
  • Fully document all process and technical deliverables.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business, computer science, or other related disciplines. CPA designation an advantage.
  • Strong financial model building skills on Anaplan with at least 2 years’ hand on model building experience and potentially other EPM tools e.g. Hyperion, Essbase, OneStream.
  • Strong understanding of financial fundamentals and commercial drivers.
  • Comfortable in operating across geographies and with teams of varying maturity.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Tact and clear verbal and written communication skills are necessary to facilitate solutions and resolve problems.
  • Strong influence, negotiation and change management skills.
  • Strong analytical and innovative problem-solving skills with the proven ability to exercise flexibility and judgment in assessing business issues and risks in a dynamic environment.
  • Execution-oriented with strong focus to deliver targeted outcomes.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous environment and adapt to change while managing time and workload with aggressive timelines.
  • Applies industry best practices within daily work and continues to participate in professional development by reading publications, networking and participating in professional organizations.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in working with virtual teams.
  • 3+ years’ hands on experience in finance function processes including consolidation, management reporting, forecasting/budgeting, and finance operations.
  • Qualified with recognized financial qualification (CPA, CA, CIMA, ACCA etc) or equivalent highly advantageous.
  • Anaplan Level 2 or 3 exam passer or certification to the Anaplan Solution Architect or Master Anaplanner level is most preferred.
  • Completed Anaplan bootcamp within MBPS and passed Level 1 Model building certification.
  • SQL and VBA knowledge is an advantage.
