Account Manager – Overview

The Account Manager is responsible for driving new business acquisition, key account management, and long-term growth within the electronics and tonnage gas markets. The focus is on developing strategic customer relationships, identifying and securing new business opportunities, and working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure effective project execution and high levels of customer satisfaction, including daily order management, delivery coordination, and inventory control.

Responsibilities
  • New Business Development & Opportunity Acquisition
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities in electronics & semiconductor manufacturing, and large industrial tonnage customers and prospects.
  • Lead commercial activities for new projects including RFQs, feasibility discussions, pricing strategy, and contract negotiation.
  • Build and maintain a strong project pipeline aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Manage and grow assigned key accounts, ensuring sustainable revenue, margin improvement, and long-term partnerships.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for customers, understanding their operational needs, expansion plans, and future gas requirements.
  • Develop account strategies and execution plans to strengthen customer loyalty and increase share of wallet.
  • Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
  • Establish strong relationships with customer stakeholders across utility, procurement operations, engineering, and management levels.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, business reviews, and technical-commercial discussions.
  • Represent the company as a trusted partner, ensuring high standards of professionalism and responsiveness.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer developments in the electronics and tonnage gas segments.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management on market opportunities, risks, and strategic actions.
  • Support development of new solutions, supply models, or value propositions tailored to customer needs.
  • Electronics & Electronics Specialty Cylinder Gas Development & Opportunity Acquisition
  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities in the cylinder gas segment, including industrial, specialty, and bulk cylinder customers under this department.
  • Collaborate and support with Electronics Specialty Gas Team for the cylinder gas business by managing daily orders, coordinating deliveries, and overseeing inventory, while working closely with internal teams to ensure reliable supply and high customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer developments in the cylinder gas segment, providing insights to management to support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Internal Coordination & Project Support
  • Work closely with internal departments including Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, Delivery and Safety to support project development and execution.
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure feasibility, cost competitiveness, and on-time project delivery.
  • Support internal project teams during contract execution, startup, and post-award phases.
  • Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and CRM updates related to sales activities and projects.

  • Operations/Supply Chain – for order fulfillment, delivery coordination, and inventory management.

  • Customer Service/Order Management – for daily order processing and customer inquiries.
  • Legal & Compliance – to ensure contracts, projects, and operations comply with regulations and company policies.
  • Delivery & Transport Safety – to ensure safe and compliant delivery of gases to customers.
External
  • Customers – Key accounts in electronics, tonnage, and cylinder/bulk gas segments.

Required Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Sales & Marketing, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in industrial & specialty gases, related B2B industries or key account management.
  • Proven track record in key account management, business development, or project-based sales.
  • Experience handling electronics & tonnage customers and/or cylinder/bulk gas projects is highly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required, with weekly visits to key accounts is a MUST.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken); knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin is an advantage.
