Band 3 - Mental Health Community Support Worker

Are you a Community Support Worker looking for a new opportunity to work in an organisation that will help you develop and achieve your goals to become the best you can be? If so, you're in luck. Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity to join our East Staffordshire Integrated Mental Health Team based in Burton on Trent.

The Integrated Mental Health teams work as part of a "neighbourhood" offering place based provision of mental health services in partnership with other local organisations. Clinicians within the IMHT will offer interventions and treatments which are concordant with NICE guidelines, and allocation within the team will be based on the needs of the service user, matching clinician skills to service user needs.

Working Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and requires travel across a large geographical area, access to suitable transport is required during your working hours.

Main duties of the job
  • You will be responsible for the provision of planned recovery focused care working with a defined caseload.
  • Working collaboratively with other Trust services to provide seamless care for service users in the Integrated Mental Health Teams.
  • Responsible for working in partnership with agencies external to the Trust supporting service-users access to services in the independent and non-statutory sector.
  • Deliver agreed therapeutic interventions, in accordance with the care plan, to assist the service user to achieve their recovery goals including; improving activities of daily living, social inclusion, meaningful occupation, accessing employment, mental health promotion and physical health promotion.
  • Undertake physical health assessments including; weight, height, blood pressure, ECG & phlebotomy.
  • Responsible for contributing towards planning and undertaking delivery of planned therapeutic activities with an identified group of service users as an element of the care programme approach.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Advanced Apprenticeship in (Mental) health and Social Care OR NVQ 3 in (Mental) Health and Social Care with demonstrable evidence of numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent GCSEs or Functional Skills) OR equivalent i.e Health social care qualification at least equivalent to the above that equips the person with the necessary knowledge, skill and competencies
Experience
  • Experience of working with people with Mental Health Needs non‑Dementia related
  • Experience of being a service user with non‑dementia related mental health problems or a carer of someone with non‑dementia related mental health problems
  • Experience of working with people with Mental Health Needs as a member of a multi‑disciplinary community team
  • Experience of co‑facilitating group based interventions
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health, access to mental health services, and mental health promotion
  • Skills in literacy, written, verbal and an ability to effectively use electronic information and computer technology
  • Skills in managing situations of high expressed emotions, and an ability to manage one's own emotions, and an ability to manage one's own
